[ Marvel’s Inhumans ] is a 2017 television series co-produced by Marvel Television, ABC Studios, and IMAX Corporation, premiering in 2017. As a pivotal expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the series centers on the Inhumans, an alien royal family with superhuman abilities. After a military coup destabilizes their lunar city Attilan, King Black Bolt and his family flee to Earth, landing in Hawaii. Struggling to reunite while evading pursuers, they fight to reclaim their homeland and rebuild their civilization.

This series marked Marvel’s first officially licensed and fully localized Chinese-dubbed original production, premiering simultaneously in China and the U.S. on iQIYI—China’s exclusive streaming platform—as part of a groundbreaking IP localization milestone. Its first two episodes debuted globally in an IMAX-exclusive format, an innovative industry-first approach to theatrical television distribution that sparked widespread industry and audience attention. The nine-episode series, though critically underwhelming, became a case study in international entertainment distribution strategies due to its hybrid “cinema + TV + streaming” release model.

Our team is honored to have contributed to the Chinese audio production, handling sound design, voice-over, and post-mixing. To enhance the sci-fi atmosphere and character powers, we meticulously crafted low-frequency energy fields, spatial ambiance, and dialogue clarity, ensuring the Mandarin dub preserved the original tone, pacing, and emotional nuance. This effort delivered a high-quality, immersive auditory experience for Marvel’s debut localized series in China.
