“Special Concert – The Outcast”  As the grand finale of the 2018 “National Comic Concert” hosted by Tencent Animation at Shenzhen Window of the World, this performance marked the first time in a large-scale domestic show that the virtual character Feng Baobao appeared live on stage via 360° holographic projection, performing in real-time synchronization with a live band and human dancers. The technical team meticulously recreated the character’s endearing “shovel-wielding burial” gag and folk-style dance steps, integrating prop shovels with motion capture systems to build highly distinctive performance details that became lasting highlights of the entire concert.

Combining immersive audiovisual effects, the show created a “2D-breaking” stage spectacle that had audience members exclaiming they were “deeply moved” and “wanted to take her home,” with cheers and interactive energy rising throughout the venue. Staged over two consecutive days, each performance lasted approximately three hours, with theater capacity reaching thousands of attendees per show. The online livestream further attracted over ten thousand pre-registered viewers, extending the influence of the event far beyond the physical venue. This production pioneered the use of “real-time virtual character interaction” for a domestic anime IP in a large concert setting, advancing the exploration of virtual performance formats within Chinese animation content and demonstrating the innovative potential of integrating cultural IP with stage technology.
