[ Little Hakka ] Produced by Shenzhen OCT Culture Group, this pioneering animated film is China’s first original work centered on Hakka culture.The story follows sisters A-Liang in a heartwarming adventure as they protect egret eggs from a straw dragon around their traditional Hakka walled village and surrounding forests. Through its fresh, natural art style and slice-of-life storytelling, the film beautifully showcases the pastoral landscapes, traditional customs, and eco-conscious values of the Lingnan Hakka region.
The film was honored at the 47th Venice Biennale’s Venice VR Expanded competition, winning the Best Immersive Experience Award. It stands as one of the earliest Chinese animated projects to receive international acclaim in the immersive VR filmmaking category, marking a milestone in China’s presence in global VR innovation.
