“Horizon Beautiful” (Also known as Beyond the Beautiful Sky) directed by Swiss filmmaker Stefan Jäger, is a 2013 Italian – Ethiopian co – production. The film follows a European soccer scout who travels to Addis Ababa for a promotional campaign and finds himself caught in a fake kidnapping orchestrated by a 12 – year – old street – smart boy. The boy offers to rescue him on one condition: the scout must take him to Europe to fulfill his soccer dreams. Together, they embark on a journey that bridges cultures and social classes, exploring the thin line between ambition and reality. Utilizing a restrained cinematic style, the film offers an authentic look at the survival struggles of African youth and the identity dilemmas brought by globalization.

The film premiered in the Generation Kplus competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival and has since been adopted across Switzerland and various African nations for intercultural education programs, inspiring deep reflection on youth aspirations and social realities.
