“De Brief voor de Koning” co – produced by Dutch public broadcaster VPRO and Germany’s Bavaria Film, was directed by Jan Becher and released in 2008. Adapted from the classic novel by Tonke Dragt – a national treasure of Dutch children’s literature – the film follows Tiuri, a young squire who, on the night of his knightly trial, accepts a perilous mission to deliver a top – secret letter from a dying knight. His journey across treacherous forests and mountains becomes a true test of loyalty and courage as he races against time to avert a royal crisis. Blending coming – of – age themes with classic chivalric ideals, the film stands as a classic of European youth adventure cinema.

The film won Live – Action Feature in the Foreign Language category at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious competitions for youth media, and was officially recommended for schools across the Netherlands. Since its Chinese television debut on CCTV – 6 in 2010, it has served as a celebrated cultural bridge, capturing the hearts of young audiences in China.
