“Kule Kidz Gråter Ikke” (also known as Farewell to Football) is a Norwegian coming – of – age drama directed by Eirik Sæther and released in 2014. The film follows Anja, a fierce 14 – year – old girl who defies the stereotype that girls shouldn’t play soccer, passionately dominating the pitch alongside her friends. Her life takes a drastic turn when a sudden leukemia diagnosis thrusts her into a grueling world of treatment and isolation. Throughout her battle, she clings to optimism, using her soccer dreams to redefine her journey of growth and resilience.

The film was nominated for Best Children’s and Youth Film at the 2014 Amanda Awards – Norway’s premier film honors – and was officially recommended for school screenings by the Norwegian Ministry of Education. Its authentic, deeply moving narrative sparked widespread empathy across the Nordic region, cementing it as one of Norway’s most impactful modern youth films.
