“Nono,het Zigzag Kind”(also known as Junior’s Journey) is a coming – of – age drama executive produced by Martin Koolhoven and directed by Eric van Egmond, released in 2012. The film follows Nono, a boy on the cusp of his 13th birthday, who runs away from home and steps into a complex adult world. Navigating the threats of street thieves and the harsh realities of survival, Nono embarks on a journey to uncover the hidden truth of his origins. Shot with a nuanced, realistic lens, the film explores isolation, courage, and identity, delivering a deeply human portrait of youth.

The film’s moving narrative earned it a spot in the Generation Kplus section at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival, drawing global media attention. Its profound look into the psychology of marginalized youth sparked widespread discussion within Dutch educational and social welfare circles, with De Volkskrant describing it as a quiet yet powerful coming – of – age fable.
