“Eat, Sleep, Pummel Dodo” is an original animated series created by Shenzhen Jingji & On-Sky Animation. Inspired by the viral Chinese internet meme “Eat, Sleep, Beat Doudou” (a humorous metaphor for mundane routines), the creative team reimagined the phrase’s absurdist humor into a fully realized fictional universe. The story centers on the optimistic and mischievous protagonist Doudou, who finds himself stranded in the starkly contrasting setting of Antarctica, where he clashes with a quirky ensemble of penguins in a series of surreal, laugh-out-loud misadventures.

Built on minimalist storytelling, rapid-fire jokes, and bold character design, the series celebrates Doudou’s carefree, upbeat attitude through lighthearted daily vignettes. In a fast-paced modern context, it resonates with audiences by championing the return to simple joys, establishing itself as a standout representative of China’s “stress-relief” animated humor—a genre offering cathartic escapism through absurdity.

Since its debut, the series has resonated strongly with younger viewers. It earned the 2016 “Jade Monkey Award for Most Commercially Promising Animation Newcomer” and has been featured in key screening sections at multiple China International Animation Festivals. Its derived emoji packs and cultural products have achieved widespread popularity, making it a phenomenon-level IP celebrated as a “successful example of internet-native Chinese animation.”
