[ Kule Kidz Gråter Ikke ] (also known as “Farewell to Football”) is a Norwegian coming-of-age drama directed by Eirik Sæther and released in 2014. The film follows 14-year-old Anna, a passionate footballer who defies the prejudice that “girls shouldn’t play football,” fiercely pursuing her dreams alongside her best friend on the pitch. However, a sudden leukemia diagnosis thrusts her into a grueling journey of treatment and isolation. Amid physical and emotional struggles, she clings to optimism and courage, using her love for football to redefine her path of growth and self-discovery.

The film was nominated for the 2014 Amanda Award (“Best Children’s and Youth Film”)—Norway’s most prestigious film honor—and was recommended by the Norwegian Ministry of Education for school screenings. Its emotionally resonant storytelling sparked widespread empathy across Nordic countries, cementing its status as one of Norway’s most impactful youth films in recent years.
