[ Le Coq de St-Victor ] (also known as “The Rooster’s Economics”) is a 2014 French animated film directed by Pierre Greco. The story unfolds in the peaceful village of Saint-Victor, where harmony is disrupted by a rooster whose persistent crowing drives the residents to seek market-driven solutions. Proposals range from auctioning the rooster to imposing taxes or creating a “Silence Fund” to compensate for the noise. Through a series of humorous and clever twists, children follow the rooster’s journey to grasp fundamental economic concepts like supply, demand, and public interest. With its fable-like narrative, the film seamlessly weaves basic economic principles into a warm, rustic tale, balancing whimsy with educational depth.
Produced with support from the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) and Canal+, the film was promoted as an educational tool in French primary schools under the “Economic Literacy Program”. It was praised by L’École des Parents (The Parent Education Weekly) as “the first animated economics lesson children will truly understand.”
Our team handled the audio post-production, delivering voice recording, sound effects enhancement, and final mixing.
