“Tong Zhi Zhe” Produced by Tencent Animation, Tongzhi Zhe is an animated adaptation of the namesake webcomic under Tencent Animation’s umbrella. Premiering in 2015 on major platforms including Tencent Video, iQIYI, and Youku, the series aired weekly for a total of 10 episodes. Centered on the concept of “Tongzhi Zhe”—a rare profession that grants temporary mastery of any vocational skill—the story follows young protagonist Zhang Dabao and his friend Dandan as they stumble into a bizarre mission, plunging into a world of urban superhuman abilities. Their journey unfolds as a hilarious, adrenaline-fueled urban adventure filled with laughter, danger, and camaraderie.

As one of Tencent Animation’s early flagship original projects, Tongzhi Zhe garnered widespread attention upon release for its innovative “one person, a thousand skills” premise and its unique blend of light sci-fi and slice-of-life storytelling. The series achieved over 200 million total views across platforms and ranked among the top titles on the 2016 Chinese web animation popularity charts. Its creative concept stood out in the domestic animation landscape at the time, pioneering the “professional fantasy” genre in Chinese comics and animation.

We contributed to the series’ audio production, crafting the opening and closing themes, designing the score, and handling voice recording and final mixing. The music team applied refined artistry to add layers of texture and emotional depth to the animation. The opening theme surges with energy, capturing the protagonist’s fiery resolve, while the closing theme lingers with a graceful, reflective melody. The score dynamically adapts to each scene—shifting from tense and thrilling to light and humorous—seamlessly syncing with the visuals. Voice performances were expressive and nuanced, shaping vivid, three-dimensional characters. Through meticulous mixing, we created an immersive auditory experience that elevates the artistic value and viewer engagement, making audio an integral part of the animation’s success.
