[ TCM Creative Museum ] Is the world’s first large-scale immersive narrative experience center dedicated to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has been honored as a key 2020 Belt and Road Initiative project for international cooperation in culture and tourism. This project carries exceptional significance, tasked with promoting TCM culture on the global stage and fostering deep exchange and integration in culture and tourism among countries along the Belt and Road.

Our team was honored to be invited to collaborate with a legendary figure in film visual effects—Sir Richard Taylor. A five-time Academy Award winner with globally celebrated achievements, Sir Richard co-founded Weta Workshop in New Zealand, a studio renowned for its brilliant work in visual effects. Weta has contributed to creating classics that have captivated audiences worldwide, such as [ The Lord of the Ringsseries and Avatar ]. This rare opportunity to co-lead the museum’s overall design and production with Sir Richard represents a remarkable cross-disciplinary collaboration, infusing the TCM Sci-Tech Creative Museum with world-class creative and technological expertise.

As the exclusive audio production partner from China, we were honored to be responsible for all audio-related work throughout the museum. This encompassed voice recording, sound effects design, multichannel special effects design, original music composition, recording, mixing, and on-site sound effect calibration.

In multichannel special effects design, we boldly employed cutting-edge technology to transcend the boundaries of traditional audio experience, constructing a comprehensive, immersive sonic environment. Whether strolling through the museum’s serene and elegant corners or experiencing the awe-inspiring scenes where technology and culture intertwine in special effects zones, visitors could feel the unique charm and powerful impact of the audio from every vantage point. Through ingenious speaker placement, sound envelops the audience from all directions, transforming the visit from a purely visual journey into a full-sensory feast. This dramatically enhances the exhibition’s emotional resonance and sense of immersion, as if guiding visitors into a vivid, living epic of TCM culture.

During the original music composition process, we delved deeply into the distinct cultural elements of each era, seamlessly integrating them with traditional Chinese instruments. From ancient chime bells to the graceful guzheng, from the melodious bamboo flute to the soulful erhu, we skillfully utilized the unique timbres of these traditional instruments to compose a series of melodious, evocative, and narrative-driven musical pieces. This music is far more than mere combinations of notes; it forms vivid chapters that recount the historical legacy and cultural depth of TCM. It enriches the exhibition themes, using music as a bridge to touch the audience’s hearts, evoke strong emotional resonance, and allow visitors to deeply appreciate the unique charm and profound essence of TCM culture while guided by the musical narrative.

For the recording phase, we spared no expense in utilizing top-tier equipment and a professional team to ensure the integrity of every sonic element. From professional recording studios to advanced microphone setups, we meticulously controlled every detail to guarantee that every note and every vocal line was pristine, delivering the highest quality sound to the audience. We understand that the purity and authenticity of sound are paramount for crafting an immersive experience. Therefore, during recording, we addressed even the slightest imperfection that could affect audio quality, striving to present the most genuine and authentic sonic experience.

The mixing process was an art of precise balance and fusion. Leveraging extensive experience and professional skill, we meticulously adjusted parameters such as volume, timbre, and phase for each audio channel, ensuring every sound element performed optimally in its rightful place. Whether voice, sound effects, or music, all were masterfully blended by the mixing engineers into a harmonious and unified whole. We dedicated ourselves to allowing the audience to perceive the layers and dimensionality of the sound during their listening experience. It is as if each sonic element tells its own independent yet interconnected story, collectively weaving a rich and vibrant audio tapestry.
