[ À Pas de Loup ] (also known as “The Diary of Casey Leaving Home”)Directed by French filmmaker Cécile Telerman and released in 2011, this French children’s psychological drama tells the story of Kathy, an introverted young girl. Despite her material comfort, she feels consistently overlooked within her busy family. To test whether she truly matters, she stages a quiet departure from home, embarking on a solo journey through the city that redefines her sense of self and her place in the world. Told with delicate realism, the film compassionately portrays a child’s inner loneliness and sensitivity—a lyrical coming-of-age story centered on emotional distance in parent-child relationships.

The film was selected for the Generation Kplus competition at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival, standing as the only French children’s film in the category that year. Its truthful and empathetic storytelling earned international critical acclaim, described by [Süddeutsche Zeitung] as “a tender masterpiece about silence and being heard,” and has since been used in psychological education discussions across elementary schools in France.
