[ Beautiful Horizon ] (Also known as”Beyond the Beautiful Sky”) is an Italy-Ethiopia co-production directed by Swiss filmmaker Stefan Jäger, released in 2013. The film follows a European football agent who, while promoting a campaign in Addis Ababa, becomes entangled in a staged kidnapping. A 12-year-old street-smart boy “rescues” him, demanding passage to Europe to pursue his football dreams. Together, they embark on a journey across cultural and class divides, questioning the fragile line between ambition and reality. Through restrained yet evocative visuals, the film offers an authentic portrayal of African youth’s survival struggles and the identity challenges of globalization.

The film premiered in the Generation Kplus Competition at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival and has since been adopted in Switzerland and multiple African countries for intercultural education programs, sparking deep reflections on youth aspirations and societal realities.
