“Tong Zhi Zhe” Produced by Tencent Comics, is an animated adaptation based on the popular web comic of the same name under Tencent’s portfolio. Since its debut in 2015, the series has been released simultaneously on major platforms including Tencent Video, iQIYI, and Youku, with weekly updates across 10 episodes. Centered on the concept of “Tong Zhi Zhe”—individuals capable of temporarily mastering any professional skill—the story follows young Zhang Dabao and his friend Dandan as they stumble into a bizarre urban supernatural world, embarking on a hilarious, adrenaline-fueled journey filled with chaotic misadventures and high-stakes action.

As one of Tencent Animation’s early flagship original animations, “Tong Zhi Zhe” gained widespread attention for its innovative “multi-skilled protagonist” premise and unique blend of light sci-fi with slice-of-life storytelling. The series surpassed 200 million views across platforms and ranked among the most-discussed domestic web animations of 2016. Its creative concept stood out in the emerging era of original Chinese animation, becoming a pioneering work in the professional-fantasy genre.

We handled the complete audio production for the series, encompassing original music composition, voiceover production, sound design, and post-production mixing. Through meticulous sound layering and dynamic soundstage design, we amplified the urban genre’s rhythmic intensity and the nuanced emotional tension within character-driven storytelling.

Zhang Dabao: 17 years old—youthful, energetic timbre. An optimistic, confident teenager with sharp observational skills and meticulous thinking, portrayed as a master detective. The voice actor uses a calm yet resolute tone to highlight his integrity, loyalty to friends, and aspirational drive.

Dandan (Jiang Xiaojie): 17 years old—youthful with a slightly laid-back tone. A NEET hacker and gaming prodigy, Dandan is Zhang Dabao’s loyal companion. Despite injuries, he comforts others with dry humor, embodying a “cold-externally, warm-internally” otaku archetype through relaxed vocal delivery.

Yang Xin: 19 years old—neutral timbre with effeminate undertones. A ruthless assassin plagued by antisocial personality disorder due to childhood trauma. The voice actor combines exaggerated feminine vocal quirks with chillingly detached intonation to contrast his deranged persona and lethal professionalism.

Chunhua: 24 years old—soft timbre layered with world-weariness. A tragic woman who takes high-interest loans to save her sister, Chunhua’s voice carries a distinct “fallen rose” texture. The performance delicately balances her vulnerability, desperation, and lingering dignity.
